Public Shows:  

Visit Spanel Planetarium during WWU's Fall Family Weekend!  We have three ticketed shows scheduled in October:

In these interactive shows, we'll pick out constellations, stars, planets, and deep space objects you can find on a clear night in your own backyard.  See the wonders of the universe, rain or shine!

 

Private Shows

We are now scheduling private shows for Fall Quarter 2026. 

Private shows are scheduled by appointment only, and must be scheduled & paid for at least two weeks in advance.  

Our group shows are offered for $135 and are 30-45 minutes long, depending on the topic and format. Our dome can accommodate 45 people per show; if your group is larger than 45, you will need to schedule and pay for multiple shows. 

Shows are typically scheduled between 10am and 3pm on weekdays or Saturdays. We may also be able to accommodate late afternoon or evening shows on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, but please reach out at least a month in advance to check for availability.  See this calendar to review our current availability, and times the planetarium is already reserved. 

Our shows are recommended for ages 8 and up.  All shows are in line with the Next Generation Science Standards for grades 4 to 12.

To schedule a private show, please email planetarium@wwu.edu with your request.

The planetarium is staffed on a part time basis and scheduling requests can take a week to process. To expedite the process, please include the following information in your e-mail:

  • Main contact name and e-mail
  • Organization (school, grade, ect.)
  • Approx. age/grade of guests
  • Anticipated number of guests (including chaperones!)
  • Preferred dates/times

When your show has been scheduled, you will be sent a link to purchase your $135 private show ticket. Private show tickets must be purchased two weeks before the show date to finalize your reservation. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once purchase has been confirmed with parking and arrival information (also found on our website).
